Bollywood actress Raveena Tandon recently shared a chilling anecdote from the set of the film 'Laadla,' starring herself, Anil Kapoor, and the late Sridevi. The story revolves around unexpected events that followed the tragic passing of Divya Bharti, who was originally cast in Sridevi's role.
Before Sridevi took on the role, Divya Bharti was the original choice for 'Laadla.' She had even filmed a number of scenes. However, her sudden and tragic death led to a recasting of the role.
Raveena Tandon recounted a particularly emotional experience during a reshoot of a scene she had previously filmed with Divya Bharti and Shakti Kapoor. She remembered Divya struggling with a specific line of dialogue, requiring numerous takes to get it right.
Months later, when Sridevi stepped in to continue the role, an eerie event occurred. Sridevi found herself stumbling over the exact same line that Divya Bharti had struggled with.
Raveena recalled, "We all had goosebumps on the set." The entire crew felt a palpable sense of an otherworldly presence.
The strange coincidence deeply impacted the cast and crew, leading them to seek solace in spirituality. Together, they began chanting the Gayatri Mantra, hoping to bring tranquility to the set and honor Divya Bharti's memory. Raveena mentioned holding Sridevi's hand and praying. They also broke a coconut as a symbol of dispelling negativity and starting anew.
Despite the initial setbacks and emotional challenges, 'Laadla' was eventually completed and released on March 25, 1994. The film became a box-office success. Many believed that Divya Bharti's spirit remained with the film, contributing to its success in an unseen way.
