Aamir Khan is back on top! His latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, has achieved a significant box office milestone, becoming the sixth highest-grossing film of his career based on Hindi net collections.

Aamir Khan celebrates the success of 'Sitaare Zameen Par'

After a successful ten-day run in theaters, the emotionally charged drama has garnered an impressive Rs 122.65 crore across all languages. The Hindi version alone contributed a substantial Rs 121.88 crore. This achievement allows it to surpass the lifetime earnings of his 2008 blockbuster, Ghajini, which earned Rs 114 crore and was a landmark film, opening the prestigious Rs 100 crore club.

This success marks a powerful return for Aamir Khan, especially after the lukewarm reception of Laal Singh Chaddha in 2022, which only managed Rs 61.12 crore in Hindi during its theatrical run. Sitaare Zameen Par not only revitalizes his box office standing but also reaffirms his connection with audiences, particularly in the realm of emotionally resonant and socially relevant storytelling – a genre that has been his forte since Taare Zameen Par.

The film launched with a respectable Rs 10.7 crore on its opening Friday and experienced remarkable growth throughout the weekend, amassing Rs 20.2 crore on Saturday and Rs 27.25 crore on Sunday. While there was an anticipated dip on Monday and Tuesday, collections stabilized mid-week and regained momentum during the second weekend, recording Rs 14.50 crore on its second Sunday (early estimates). This resilience indicates positive word-of-mouth is driving the film's success.

The success of Sitaare Zameen Par underscores the strong audience draw and brand loyalty associated with Aamir Khan's distinctive style of cinema.

Currently positioned sixth among Aamir Khan's highest-grossing films, Sitaare Zameen Par trails only Thugs of Hindostan (Rs 145.55 crore) and ranks ahead of iconic films such as Ghajini (Rs 114 crore), Talaash (Rs 93.61 crore), Taare Zameen Par (Rs 62.95 crore), and Laal Singh Chaddha (Rs 61.12 crore).

Entering its second week, the film's prospects appear bright. If the current trend persists, Sitaare Zameen Par could potentially challenge Thugs of Hindostan for the fifth position by the upcoming weekend. This is notable, considering new releases such as Anurag Basu's Metro… In Dino, starring Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan, and Akshaye Khanna’s Akshardham, have not generated significant excitement.
