Sinner Shines at Wimbledon 2025, Advances to Round of 16 Undefeated
London: Jannik Sinner, the world No. 1, is making a statement at Wimbledon 2025. Less than a month after a grueling five-hour, 29-minute match at Roland Garros, where he narrowly missed victory despite holding three match points, Sinner's performance on the Wimbledon grass courts is nothing short of spectacular.
The Italian player's confidence is evident in his Wimbledon statistics. After defeating Pedro Martinez of Spain with a score of 6-1, 6-3, 6-1 in just 1 hour and 55 minutes in the third round, it was revealed that Sinner had surpassed Roger Federer's efficiency record at this stage of the tournament. Sinner has only conceded 17 games thus far, whereas Federer had conceded 19 games in 2004.
The 23-year-old Sinner is set to face Grigor Dimitrov, formerly known as 'Baby Fed', in the fourth round on Monday.
Having saved all eight breakpoints he has encountered, Sinner has yet to be broken in the competition. His average first serve speed is 202 kmph. So far, the Italian has spent a total of 5 hours and 23 minutes on the court. "New tournament, new surface," he stated. "I'm not concerned that one loss can affect you for such a long period."
Other notable results include Mirra Andreeva's victory over Hailey Baptiste (6-1, 6-3), Iga Swiatek's triumph over Danielle Collins (6-2, 6-3), and Clara Tauson's upset against former champion Elena Rybakina (7-6 (6), 6-3).
India’s Yuki Bhambri and his American partner Robert Galloway, seeded 16th, mounted an impressive comeback in their second-round Wimbledon men’s doubles match. They secured a 6-3, 7-6 (6) victory over Portugal’s Nuno Borges and American Marcos Giron in 90 minutes.
In the third round, Bhambri and Galloway are scheduled to compete against the fourth seeds, Granollers and Zeballos, who previously defeated Sriram Balaji and Miguel Reyes-Varela.
