The Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA) is poised to introduce its own T20 league in the 2025-26 season, joining a growing trend among state associations.
Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, has confirmed the decision to Cricbuzz. While the launch is confirmed, the association is still working to determine a suitable window for the tournament. The number of participating teams and other crucial details are also yet to be finalized.
The proliferation of domestic T20 leagues across India has created valuable scouting opportunities for IPL franchises. Leagues in Delhi, Mumbai, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Andhra, and Saurashtra have successfully provided platforms for local cricketers to showcase their skills and potentially earn a spot in the Indian Premier League. Many of these leagues are scheduled in June and July, following the conclusion of the IPL season in May.
