Wimbledon 2025: Djokovic, Sinner & Swiatek Launch Title Bids as Action Heats Up on Day 2

Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner, and Iga Swiatek are set to begin their Wimbledon 2025 campaigns on Tuesday in London, following a dramatic opening day. The top seeds will be aiming for smooth progress in the tournament.

Djokovic Eyes Major Title After Near Misses

Novak Djokovic, a seven-time champion, will start his quest against Alexandre Muller of France on Centre Court. After losing to Carlos Alcaraz in both the 2023 and 2024 finals and reaching the semi-finals of Roland Garros this year, the 37-year-old Serbian is determined to reassert his dominance on grass.

Despite not being as formidable on hard courts and clay as before, dismissing Djokovic on grass would be a mistake. He leads the head-to-head against Muller 1-0, having defeated him in straight sets at the 2023 US Open.

Sinner Seeks Redemption After French Open Loss

Jannik Sinner, the world number 1, is slated to face fellow Italian Luca Nardi in their first tour encounter. Sinner is heavily favored to overcome Nardi.

All eyes will be on Sinner as he seeks to recover from his painful defeat in the French Open final. He also aims to advance beyond the Wimbledon semi-finals for the first time. Following a Round of 16 exit at the Halle tune-up event, Sinner has made changes to his support team, parting ways with his fitness trainer and physiotherapist.

Swiatek Aims for Deep Wimbledon Run

On the women's side, Iga Swiatek, seeded eighth, will commence her campaign against Polina Kudermetova.

Swiatek, who has never progressed beyond the quarter-finals at Wimbledon, is eager to bounce back after losing her French Open title.

Draper and Bublik: Ones to Watch

Jack Draper, Britain's top player, will face Sebastian Baez of Argentina on Court 1. Draper, considered a player to watch, reached the semi-finals of the 2024 US Open and aims for a significant run on home soil.

Alexander Bublik, currently ranked 31st in the world, is another player to keep an eye on. Coming to SW19 fresh off a Halle Open victory, including wins over Sinner and Medvedev, Bublik also reached the quarter-finals at Roland Garros. He begins his campaign on Tuesday.
