Jasprit Bumrah, the linchpin of the Indian pace attack, displayed exceptional form during a recent net session, signaling his readiness for the crucial third Test against England at Lord's.
After being rested for the second Test in Edgbaston, Birmingham, following a demanding 43.4 overs in the first match, Bumrah's return is highly anticipated. Head coach Gautam Gambhir previously indicated that Bumrah would participate in only three matches of the series.
According to PTI reports, Bumrah engaged in an extensive net session lasting approximately 45 minutes, showcasing his dedication to honing his skills. His practice wasn't limited to bowling; he also focused on his batting, facing both left-arm spin and throwdowns.
Bumrah is expected to replace Prasidh Krishna in the playing XI. Alongside Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, another left-arm seamer, also put in significant effort during the nets.
Players such as captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rishabh Pant, Akash Deep, and Mohammed Siraj were notably absent from the session.
In Bumrah's absence, Akash Deep seized the opportunity in the second Test, emerging as India's leading bowler. He claimed 4/88 in the first innings, marking his best figures in a single innings. He concluded the match with a maiden five-wicket haul (6/99), achieving a ten-wicket haul with figures of 10/187. This was the best performance by an Indian bowler at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
With Akash Deep and Mohammed Siraj in prime form, and Bumrah's return, India is poised to unleash a formidable three-pronged pace attack, ready to challenge England at Lord’s.
