Actor-filmmaker Prithviraj Sukumaran has finally reacted to 'Aadujeevitham' not winning a single National Award despite its massive critical and commercial acclaim.Speaking at a public event in Sharjah, he made it clear that jury decisions don’t define the true value of a film. “A film is not made for some jury or for ten people to watch and give marks, nor is it made only to be screened at international festivals,” he said, adding that while awards have their own significance, what matters most is the audience’s love.

Prithviraj says the audience is the real jury

As reported by Manorama Online, Prithviraj stressed that 'Aadujeevitham' had already earned the most important recognition it could ever get. “Ultimately, films are made for the audience — for people to come to the theatre and enjoy. In that sense, the audience has already given Aadujeevitham the biggest award. For that, I thank them,” he told the gathering. His statement comes amid widespread criticism over the National Awards overlooking the film, which competed in 14 categories but did not win even one.

'Aadujeevitham' won the audience's hearts; Urvashi's earlier reaction

Earlier in an interview with The News Minute, the veteran actress Urvashi reacted to 'Aadujeevitham' National Award snub. She said, "You have an actor who’s put everything into this role—physically and emotionally. He lived with that pain, and they just ignored it. We all know it’s because of Empuraan.” For the unversed, the Mohanlal and Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer ‘Empuraan’ received much heat as it allegedly included scenes that referred to 2002 Gujarat riots, which led to several controversies, and the makers re-edited those scenes. On the other hand, Prithviraj Sukumaran has the most awaited thriller ‘Vilayath Buddha’ in the pipeline. Prithviraj Sukumaran was recently seen in the Hindi thriller film 'Sarzameen' which received mostly mixed reviews.
