Rahul Dravid's younger son, Anvay Dravid, has been named captain of Karnataka's U-19 side for the upcoming Vinoo Mankad Trophy, which will be held in Dehradun from October 9.Meanwhile, discarded India batter Karun Nair will turn out for Karnataka after a hiatus of two seasons, as he has been named in the state squad for the opening Ranji Trophy match against Saurashtra, beginning in Rajkot from October 15.

Karun rejoined the state side ahead of this season from Vidarbha, where he played a major role in the team’s victorious Ranji Trophy campaign last season.Mayank Agarwal will continue to lead Karnataka. Meanwhile, it looks like an end of road for Manish Pandey in the first-class cricket as the veteran batter has not been picked. It will be another chance for Karun to make a comeback into the Indian cricket team.He was dropped from the Indian Test squad for the ongoing two-match Test series at home against the West Indies.“We expected more from Karun Nair in England. It cannot be about just one innings. Devdutt Padikkal offers more options to us. We want to give at least 15–20 chances to every player, but it is not possible every time,” Agarkar had said at a press conference in Dubai.
